The practicum module is required because it fulfills mandatory practicum hours required by Yoga Alliance as part of the 300 hour RYT credentialling process. It will be a crucial part of your advanced training program where you will have the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge and practical skills you have gained throughout the training and combine them with a project that lights you up. This hands-on experience will play a pivotal role in your 300 YTT and help ensure you have the confidence and skills to bring your passion to life. The subject of your practicum can be anything YOU want that serves you, nourishes you, and helps you expand as both a yoga teacher and student. So in this spirit, our practicum module is a bit free form, and you can register for and complete it on your own schedule.
How does it work? At any point during your 300 hour training, you'll come up with a yoga based project, get it approved by MYA, create anything you need for it (curriculum, a sequence, handouts, etc), and then carry it out. Throughout this process, Michele and Carolyn will be here to coach you, give feedback, help refine your project, offer up encouragement, whatever you need! You may also seek constructive feedback from your fellow trainees. This feedback loop is designed to help you test your project, gain confidence and enhance your ability to create a meaningful yoga experience for your desired audience. Michele and Carolyn will be available to you to meet up privately, in-person, via Zoom, work over email or phone.
What topic will you choose? You may want to create a workshop or CEU course to lead on your own, teach a series of free yoga classes to an underserved population or in schools. This module is completely driven by your passions, interests, and needs, and we'll be right here with you along the way. Additionally, Michele and Carolyn will both have options available throughout the training to present your material within a 200 hour YTT program (for example, maybe you teach students about the Yamas and Niyamas or the chakras).
When you're ready to begin your practicum, enroll here and we will be in contact shortly.
