The Practicum Module: All the details!

Curious about what the practicum module is all about? Find answers here!

Practicum hours are required by Yoga Alliance as part of the 300 hour program. To be honest, these hours can be anything we want, so we made them be anything YOU want! When we created MYA, it was important to us that this program wasn't just something that you go through to get your certificate, but a program that serves you, nourishes you, and helps you expand as both a yoga teacher and student. So in this spirit, our practicum module is a bit free form, and you can register for and complete it on your own schedule.

So what counts as practicum? It's truly up to you. At any point during you 300 hour training, you'll come up with a yoga based project, create anything you need for it (curriculum, a sequence, handouts, etc), and then carry it out. Throughout this process, Michele and Carolyn will be here to coach you, help refine your project, offer up encouragement, whatever you need! You can meet up with us privately, in-person, via Zoom, work over email or phone.

Michele and Carolyn will both have options available throughout the course of training to present material within a 200 hour program (for example, maybe you teach students about the Yamas and Niyamas or the chakras), you can create a workshop or CEU hours to lead on your own, teach a series of free yoga classes to an underserved population. This module is completely driven by your passions, interests, and needs, and we'll be right here with you along the way.
